Longido District Council is obliged through fiscal decentralization to provide important services such as education, water, healthcare, environmental and natural resources conservation, land planning and infrastructures development and maintenance to the public of Longido District. In order to enable effective provision of services, the council has established effective system of collection and spending of revenues. On the foresaid mater the Council has vested functions of revenue collection, expenditure and accounting to Finance and Trade Department.

The Finance and Trade Department of Longido District Council is vested with the following functions:-

1.Identification of Revenue Sources and Assessment thereon

2.Accounting for Revenues Collected

3.Expenditure Control and Accounting

4.Financial Reporting

The Department is organised in four Main Sections, namely:
