Sustainable agro-forestry is an area of which the district can take advantage. This includes the promotion of commercial beeswax honey production and forestation and reforestation programmes. There are a total of four environmental programmes in the district which can be focused:
Beekeeping
Land use plan
Conserving and developing forests
Starting tree nurseries
All efforts should be made to maintain the current district forest cover and quality.
Beekeeping, though largely considered to be a part-time activity, has shown tremendous improvement in the last four years and is among the major potential areas for investment in Longido district. The availability of natural forests provides a sustainable home for bees in the district.
