The Longidosolid waste project intended to include knowledge sharing, implementation of concrete measures to improve waste management planning, investigation of works, information and dissemination

Goals of the Project

—        The goal of the project is to promote sustainable waste management   at Longido council by improving the environment collection disposal of solid waste in the form of recycling as disposal and

—          Increasing awareness of the community.

Planned and implemented activities:

—        Purchase one Trailer;

—       Purchase three wheel bicycle known as GUTA (one unit;

—       Purchase three wheel motor bicycle known as TOYO ( Three units);

—       Purchase of working tools and protective gears

—        Continue training the community on the importance of solid waste management

—        Conducting group meeting

These are some of our working means of waste transportation

CHALLENGES

—       The groups lack enough tools / equipments  for solid waste collection.

—       Poor infrastructure (Road)

—       Lack of trucks/ excavator  

—       People have not started sorting – more awareness needed

—       Some of Tools/equipments like wheel borrow from collection groups are worn out.

—       No sanitary land fill

—       Generally the Longido Council solid waste project is doing well even though still it has challenges as mention above.

—        We also appreciate the Region Got land for their tireless support in terms of technical support, equipment, safety gears and special truck.
