his five years Strategic plan (2014/2015-2018/2019 is aimed at fulfilment of the DistrictCouncil vision and mission so as to attain quality social and economic services to the peoplewhich in turn will accelerate economic growth and attain sustainable development.The strategic plan of 2014/2015-2018/2019 emphasises on improving productivity throughstrengthening of extension services, infrastructure, savings and credit societies (SACCOS) aswell as enhancement of women and youth income generating activities. The said are expected tohelp to increase production and productivity. Also the council intends to take mitigationmeasures on climatic changes.Other priority areas during the period of the strategic plan include Financial Management andAccountability, Human Capital Development and Quality Social Services delivery. GoodGovernance has been considered as the key element for enhanced peace and security for socialeconomic development.In addition, Longido District Council has put concerted efforts into implementing cross cuttingissues of environment, gender and HIV/AIDS through community sensitization, awarenesscreation and conducive environment for women and all disadvantaged groups. The council hasoften received support of Local Government Capital Development Grant (LGCDG) and HealthBasket Funding System (HBFS).With respect to HIV/AIDS pandemic, there are continued efforts to make the Community awareof prevention methods, undertaken through public Information, Education and Communication(IEC) in collaboration with TACAIDS, Civic Societies Organizations (CSOs) and otherdevelopment partners.The plan elaborates a number of key issues ranging from situation analysis of the District, visionstatement and mission. It also defines organisation objectives, targets and develops strategies soas to attain the desired targets and objectives. In addition, performance indicators have beenhighlighted which will enable the Council to measure attainment of the targets and objectives. Insome sections of this plan, appropriate data has been given to explain the subject matter.Finally the Council would like to thank all those who have made this task of preparing SP to bepossible.
