This Five-Year Strategic Plan (2025/2026 – 2029/2030) has been developed to guide Longido District Council in realizing its Vision and Mission through sustainable provision of quality social and economic services to the people. The plan is designed to accelerate economic growth, promote good governance, and foster inclusive and sustainable development.
Strategic Focus Areas
The strategic plan emphasizes:
Enhancing productivity in agriculture and livestock through strengthened extension services and modern techniques.
Expanding rural infrastructure, including feeder roads, water schemes, and school/health facilities.
Strengthening community-based financial systems, particularly SACCOS and small business cooperatives.
Empowering women and youth through income-generating programs and entrepreneurship training.
Addressing climate change through mitigation and adaptation measures in agriculture, water and natural resource management.
Improving financial management and accountability by strengthening systems, transparency, and internal audit controls.
Investing in human capital through continuous capacity building, recruitment, and professional development of council staff.
Delivering quality social services, including education, health, water, and sanitation.
Promoting good governance as the foundation for peace, justice, security and sustainable socio-economic development.
